Professor David Faiman head of the Ben-Gurion National Solar Energy Research Center and developer of a new Solar Cell. This new Solar Cell can produce over one thousand times more electric power than a conventional photovoltaic or PV. Professor David Faiman states "The achievement is that we separate out the collection function of a photovoltaic cell to the light conversion to electricity function. When we collect the light, instead of using a huge area of solar cells, we use an equal area of cheap glass mirrors and they are curved in such a way as to concentrate the light onto a very small solar cell, the size of just one cell, and in this way you concentrate the light a thousand times and you can get a thousand times more power out of a small cell."
He gives an interesting point about the curvature of the mirror and how it can concentrate more power on a small mirror rather than a huge flat mirror.

The day has finally come. Solar siding is a reality.
Solar air heating system is a metal consisting of aluminum or steel cladding, that is installed on the south-facing wall of a building. The system operates in a very simple manner using economical and environmentally-benign solar energy to heat buildings. The dark-colored metal cladding is heated by solar radiation. Ventilation fans located at the top of the wall create a negative pressure in the cavity between the cladding and the building. Outside air is drawn through tiny holes in the Solarwall and is heated by the metal panels. Air rises in the cavity to a plenum at the top of the wall. The incoming warm air is ducted to the nearest fan. Warm, fresh air is distributed throughout the building.

Solarwall is the world's largest solar air heating system.
This unique solar system even reduces the loss of heat in winter by capturing the escaping air with incoming air and pushing it back into the building. This also remains true at night time when heat loss occurs as well.

Hot air naturally rises so the hot air trapped between the wall and the Solarwall rises to the top of the building where it is vented out. Fresh, cool air is drawn in by dampers to keep the building cool. Because of the fresh air constantly entering the building, Solarwall increases the air quality and overall health conditions for the facility.

Something you don't hear enough about is solar water heaters. It can heat your pool to all your house water. And it is ran a little different then using solar panels.

Solar power water heaters are more of a direct approach to the sun basically it is ran to tubing that is in direct contact with the sun where the water is heated and filtered back to your system.

This is all so the easiest and cheapest self set up for solar, a lot of people are making these set ups at home for very little cost.

This should be set up somewhere on top of your house or where it gets a lot of sun.

Now that you have got the heating water system, you need to have it run to you hot water pipes. You all so would want a instantiated water tank to store and use. In this next video is gives you a demonstration on how this works

I all so recommend water sealing and insulating all the pipes going to and from your solar water system.

The Solana Generating Station will produce enough energy to serve 70,000 APS customers when operating at full capacity. The plant will be built by Abengoa Solar Inc., and is scheduled to provide renewable energy beginning in 2011.

I caught the end of an episode of "Naked Science" last night about the moon. What I found interesting is that they were talking about using machines to create solar panels right there on its surface. I forget how many miles it would take but they said they could power the entire worlds energy source we use everyday by doing this. Another interesting thing was that they could use radio or some sort of radar to send the energy to the earths surface and receive 80% of the solar power energy. They are hoping to have this in effect by 2020, that would be a great way to use the moon since it appears unoccupied. I tried to find the video on you tube so I could watch it for more facts but was unable to find it, if you come across this video "Inhabiting the moon" (I Think its called), I would say its a must watch.

This solar vent is something I have never thought of. Another great place to put solar panels to generate more energy and save you money in the process.If you can't afford expensive solar panels to cover your whole roof, this may be at least a start.
I was thinking window shutters, window sills or even down spouts would be other things that are soaking in the sun long enough. Through out the day these things that usually just hang on the house, could be doing possibly more by generating energy as well.
We are not too far from this reality.

This is a attic vent with a fan. There is no doubt that the fan can be very helpful. Similar to the Solar vent except it is perfect for removing heat and storing it all at the same time.

These people seemed kind of more full of themselves rather than for anyone else. I for one am not buying it. I'm not certain but it seems to me that this company is full of you know what? They sounded arrogant and pretty much as if they have had life served to them on a silver platter, all their life.
They don't have intentions on helping the planet. They are striving for themselves and no one else.

Plenty of people like to talk about solar. Even changing things for the better. Unfortunately for people like me, really making a impact is very far from my sense of reality because of my income. Even though I'm trying to do my best, it's really nothing in comparison.
Certain people, for instance "the government" and others could step it up a little more and help this planet out. Solar wise especially.
But every time I turn around, there is a trash bin but not a recycle bin.
Sure I can think when I'm recycling that I'm helping the earth out. But the little I do does not help me sleep at night.
Our children deserve a world better than what we live in right now! More recycling is needed world wide.If this picture is correct? The United States, Canada,South Africa and Australia are doing their part. At least with recycling. It's a start?

So you might have to check accordingly on where you live. There is the option of not connecting to the electric company at all. This would be a battery backup system, but I've heard that this is a hassle on the maintenance involved. So you should figure out how much energy you use or are going to use and base how much solar energy power you should invest in.

The sidewalks were recently fixed by our house. That got me thinking... Maybe they could come up with sidewalks that were solar powered?
With the technology we have now I know we can make them. Start with thick plastic see through yet rough enough so there is still some traction, that protect the solar panels underneath.
The roads would be next after it was perfected of course.
There are always smaller ways that maybe we could start with. Like pool covers if there isn't that already? Skateboards, decks, fences, even the top of every building around. All these things have energy, but aren't harnessed. This energy can then help your house or anything else you want. A solar universal plug if you will.

The topic of Solar Power is in more conversations these days than ever before. Countries around the world have began developing many different uses for solar power for many reasons. The main one being that our world is changing for the worse. Humans may be the ones to blame or at least, that's what I think. The real question is ... "How can we use Solar Energy more effectively to turn this planet of ours around?"

The first idea that made a lot of sense was Solar Siding(hence the name of the site) and Solar windows to go along with it.

Imagine generating energy from your house everyday, it is possible and it is our goal to find out how... You will be able to possibly buy solar siding from us in the near future!

Let's hope so. Or the world as we know will be gone someday. It may be sooner than you think...

I think with more ideas like these we will be back on the right track.
