Solar Siding

The day has finally come. Solar siding is a reality.
Solar air heating system is a metal consisting of aluminum or steel cladding, that is installed on the south-facing wall of a building. The system operates in a very simple manner using economical and environmentally-benign solar energy to heat buildings. The dark-colored metal cladding is heated by solar radiation. Ventilation fans located at the top of the wall create a negative pressure in the cavity between the cladding and the building. Outside air is drawn through tiny holes in the Solarwall and is heated by the metal panels. Air rises in the cavity to a plenum at the top of the wall. The incoming warm air is ducted to the nearest fan. Warm, fresh air is distributed throughout the building.

Solarwall is the world's largest solar air heating system.
This unique solar system even reduces the loss of heat in winter by capturing the escaping air with incoming air and pushing it back into the building. This also remains true at night time when heat loss occurs as well.
In the summer, the Solarwall system works by preventing solar radiation from hitting the south side of the building. Hot air naturally rises so the hot air trapped between the wall and the Solarwall rises to the top of the building where it is vented out. Fresh, cool air is drawn in by dampers to keep the building cool. Because of the fresh air constantly entering the building, Solarwall increases the air quality and overall health conditions for the facility.

  • operating efficiency of up to 75% rated by both the Canadian and US governments
  • on a sunny day, the temperature can raise anywhere from 30° to 76° F (16° to 40° C) depending on flow rate
  • the cost of this solar heating system when being constructed is usually less than the cost of a brick wall or even a metal-clad wall
  • even on cloudy days, the Solarwall provides significant energy savings as a preheating system for ventilation air
  • a typical installation produces 50 to 70 kwh/ft2 (500 to 700kWh/m2)
  • energy savings of $1 to $6/ft2 ( $10 to $60/m2) during the heating season; if the Solarwall is utilized for process air heating, the savings are even greater
  • the economic benefits according to the Federal Express distribution center in Colorado indicate that savings will be $12,000 US annually, and that 254,000 pounds (115,000 kilograms) of carbon dioxide emissions will not be released into the atmosphere

Solar Farm Grows on Florida Campus

The largest (16 Acres)solar farm plant in any university should be operational the end of Nov. the beginning of Dec. Costing about $40,000,000 it should save in the long run.
There is some controversial of why 16 acres where cut down for this project but the university is saying that these trees where going to be cut down anyway. Watch the video and make your own opinion.

Solar Power Shines - Bloomberg

China is really going solar and there stocks are showing it. China plans to invest $293 billion in Alternative Energy through 2020. I wish the American government would see this and try to do a little more "OR A LOT!!!".

Solar Power Water Heating

Something you don't hear enough about is solar water heaters. It can heat your pool to all your house water. And it is ran a little different then using solar panels.

Solar power water heaters are more of a direct approach to the sun basically it is ran to tubing that is in direct contact with the sun where the water is heated and filtered back to your system.

This is all so the easiest and cheapest self set up for solar, a lot of people are making these set ups at home for very little cost.

Here is a video on a good set up for the heating the water.

This should be set up somewhere on top of your house or where it gets a lot of sun.

Now that you have got the heating water system, you need to have it run to you hot water pipes. You all so would want a instantiated water tank to store and use. In this next video is gives you a demonstration on how this works

I all so recommend water sealing and insulating all the pipes going to and from your solar water system.

Solar Tiles On Our Roofs

Even without the sun out all the time, you can still get enough energy and possibly save a little money on the side. I hate to see it really... There is so much energy that seems to be wasted every day.

Grid Tie Inverters

Grid tie converters take your solar energy and converts it to match the energy that is being used in your house(DC to AC). It all so can feed energy back into the the electric company and will actually lower your meter but you may want to cheek local laws for your areas on this subject. Using a grid tie converter can save you the hassle of having an electrician come in to rewire every thing to match what your solar power is bringing in. One drawback is that if you loss power from the electric company the converter will shut down but if you have back up batteries charged this can hold you through this time lets say at night or a cloudy day when your not getting enough energy from your solar system. I recommend you keep track of the waits that you are using in your household before investing in a converter. While looking on ebay I found a 1000 Watt grid-tie inverter...Mppt Tracking for $1,189.00.
Here is a very informative video on grid tie inverters and what they do and how they work.

GRID TIE INVERTER SOLAR POWER EASY SOLAR SOLUTION POWER INVERTERS

Well I like the fact in the video that he demonstrated running the grid tie converter but to bad it was a cloudy day I would like to have seen it run directly off his solar panels instead of car batteries.
